Upon glancing at this piece, the viewer is overcome by an array of cool colors and vivid layers of flora. The intricate details of each plant stands out individually, while also flowing into those adjacent. From top to bottom, the viewer first takes in a variety of green plants, then some light yellow, light purples, green again, then darker blue hues. This Japanese woodblock print clearly illustrates Yoshida’s precision in each line and shape, and speaks to her diverse experiences throughout her life as an oil painter, abstract painter, and then finally as a printmaker.
