Joni Pienkowski was born in 1937 in Virginia. She has become a world-renowned visual artist, with over 100 solo exhibitions in the United States, “including at the Smithsonian, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Butler Institution of American Art.” Much of Pienkowski’s work is done in her native Virginia, where she currently resides. Her works are highly versatile, as she works with many mediums and in many styles, though her focus is often on abstraction.
Not only is Pienkowski a renowned artist, but a teacher as well, having worked at Virginia Tech, the University of Wisconsin, and Radford University. Pienkowski continues to test the limits in her art, whether it be in subject matter or medium.
