Philippe Mohlitz was born in 1941 in Bordeaux. His artistic studies began with drawing and painting, though now he is known as an engraver. He studied engraving under Jean Delpech from 1965 until 1970, and is considered a master of the burin. Mohlitz tends to use older tools, much like those of Durer. His subject matter is often inspired by mythology and fantasy. He continues to work and reside in Bordeaux.
