Lee Bjorklund was born in Wadena, Minnesota on June 20th 1940. He received his bachelor in 1969 at the University of Minnesota. Then he continued his education at the same university and received a Masters of Fine Arts degree in 1973. Bjorklund remained, for the most part, in academia. He taught at a number of schools including, University of Minnesota, Art Center Minnesota in Crystal Bay, Winona State University in Minnesota, Minnesota Museum Art School. From 1973 to the present he works as a professor of fine arts in Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Other achievements include, visiting artist at Arrowmont School Arts and Crafts in Tennessee, visual arts coordinator for the Minnesota State Arts Board, and a co-found of the Minnesota Artists Exhibition program at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

Bjorklund has work in notable galleries. He seems to favor the lithograph, however painting is another one of his specialities. In the 1989 school year he had a talk at St Olaf about painting. Minnesota Institute of Arts has four of his lithographs. The Walker in Minnesota own two lithographs. St. Olaf’s Flaten Art Museum has one lithograph in their collection.
