Neil Anderson was born in 1933. He attended St. Olaf College and graduated in 1955 before going on to receive his MFA from the University of Iowa. Throughout his career as an artist, Anderson also held a position as Professor of Painting at Bucknell University from 1958 until his retirement in 1999; in addition, he was a visiting artist at Colorado College in 1974.

Anderson’s works are inspired by the landscape of rural Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where he resides. His work is non-representational and often improvised in terms of colors, textures, and shapes. Primarily, Anderson works in watercolors and oil, however he does occasionally dabble in printmaking and on-site projects with a focus on the environment.
