Luke Anguhadluq was born in 1895 in Tariunnuaq (Chantrey Inlet), Nunavut Territory, Canada. He spent the majority of his life serving as a camp leader in the Back River area. However, in the early 1960s he and his wife, Marion Tuu’luq, settled in the the Baker Lake (Qamani'tuaq) community. His wife would later become a prominent tapestry and graphic artist, but Anguhuldaq’s career in art did not begin until 1968. When the printing program began at Baker Lake the following year, he immediately became involved.

Although earlier in his life he had been known for his skills in hunting, in the Baker Lake community he became well known for his skillful drawings of drum dances and caribou, amongst others. Many of his drawings were used by his sons, Thomas Iksiraq (1941-) and Barnabus Oosuaq (1940-), who are both printers and used his works for their prints. Luke Anguhadluq died in 1982, at the age of 87. He was buried on one of his favorite hills from his hunting days, where he used to watch caribou, with his casket brought by dogsled as per his final request.
