Roger Webb was born in 1946 in Oxford, England. Before settling in Australia in 1961, he lived in England, Ethiopia, and Egypt. In 1968, he received a Diploma of Art from the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart. He then went on to works as an art teacher until 1980 before taking up pottery full-time, when he would sell his works in markets and through Tasmanian galleries. In 2002 and 2003, he was represented by Despard Gallery at the international SOFA exhibition in Chicago, Illinois. Webb combines resist techniques with luster glazes to produce multi-layered surfaces. He signs his works with a simple incised ‘W.’
