Rollin Karg was born in 1945 in Columbus, Ohio, but was raised in Miami, Florida. He started his career in the arts as an industrial engineer, then moving on to photography, pottery, and woodworking before he finally settled on glassblowing in 1983. Karg originally attended Wichita State University on a football scholarship, but soon decided to study glassblowing at Emporia State University, and during this time he built his first glassblowing furnace. He set up shop in Wichita, which is where he remains to this day.

Karg uses traditional glassblowing techniques, including a five-foot long blowpipe with which he makes his works. Many of his works are abstract in shape and extremely large. He is also known for his use of dichroic colors, which transmit one color while reflecting another. Karg has won multiple awards for his glass pieces, and his work has been shown across the United States. He continues to work in his studio in Wichita, creating large glass sculptures.
