Joshua Salesin is a woodworker from the United States who specifically works in the realm of ornamental woodturning. Salesin is set up in Santa Cruz, California, where he pursues his craft using antique machines and tools alongside sustainable materials. His lathes are hundreds of years old, and produce his beautiful wood objects. Despite how old his techniques are, Salesin has a modern philosophy when it comes to his work and the environment; he uses “sources of offcuts or rejects from instrument and furniture makers.” What little scraps cannot be salvaged are recycled in his local green waste program.
Salesin’s works have been shown in a number of shows across the United States since 2002, and his website is frequently updated with upcoming shows. His wood carvings are currently held in four museums across the United States.
